Roswell, Fulton County
Exterior and interior painting for Roswell homes, old and new
Roswell has antebellum buildings around its old town square and a city built mostly in the 1980s and 1990s. The prep and the paperwork differ, so we treat them as two different jobs.

Short answer
Roswell houses are mostly from the 1980s, which account for 32.8% of the city's homes, with the 1990s adding 20.5%. Most calls are for exterior repaints on their siding and wood trim. A smaller group sits in the Roswell Historic District, listed in 1974, where structures date from 1837 and design plans go before the Historic Preservation Commission.
Homes in Roswell
Mill-town history on top of a 1980s housing boom
Roswell King's mill company was incorporated in 1839, and the town that carries his name was incorporated in 1854. Union troops reached Roswell in July 1864 and the mills were destroyed, and Barrington Hall, built in 1842, is now on the National Register. The Roswell Historic District covers 120 acres of Greek Revival and Late Georgian buildings, among them the Old Bricks, first built to house mill workers.
Almost everything else came later and fast. Census estimates put 32.8% of Roswell's 37,439 homes in the 1980s and 20.5% in the 1990s, against just 2.7% built before 1960. Detached houses are 59.5% of the stock and single-family attached homes another 12%, and 71.9% of households own the home they live in.
For a painter that means two kinds of work. On the 1980s houses it is wood trim, siding and decks on their next repaint cycle. In the district, the city's design plan application asks for material and color samples, so the color decision comes before we can book exterior dates.

Scheduling
Booking Roswell exteriors around weather and review
We schedule Roswell jobs from the Tucker office. For most houses the only variable is weather: we need dry days to wash, let the siding dry and paint. For a house in the historic district, ask the city planning staff first whether your colors need review, then call us any hour and we will hold dates for when the answer comes back.
